I'm Alex Rocco, a graduate student currently pursuing a master’s degree in Strategic Communications. I graduated from Penn State in May 2024 with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism, complemented by minors in Entrepreneurship & Innovation and Sports Studies and a certificate from the John C. Curley Center for Sports Journalism.
My journey in broadcasting began at Penn State, where I’ve gained extensive experience in play-by-play broadcasting, TV reporting, and sports journalism.
I’ve worked as a broadcaster for CommRadio and BTN+, broadcasting sports including baseball, hockey, football, basketball, lacrosse, and volleyball.
In addition, I’ve interned with the Cotuit Kettleers and the Charlottesville Tom Sox, where I broadcasted over 80 games combined—furthering my skills in on-camera intros, play-by-play, and color commentary.
At CommRadio, I served as General Manager overseeing 350 members and a management team of 25 members. I also covered Penn State football for the past three seasons, writing articles and hosting podcasts.
Alongside my broadcasting work, I’ve written for The Daily Collegian. I covered Penn State women’s hockey and soccer where I wrote various feature stories and game recaps.
I’m passionate about combining my love for sports with my storytelling skills, and I’m excited to continue growing in sports media. Feel free to explore my website to learn more about my experience and the work I’m doing!
